Carbon Masters was delighted to welcome Adelca to the UK in October 2012 as part of a training programme organised by Carbon Masters. Adelca is Ecuador’s largest steel manufacturer and currently working with
Carbon Masters to measure and reduce their carbon emissions. The purpose of the trip was to inform and inspire Adelca to become a leader in sustainability and develop their own renewable energy solutions to reduce carbon emissions.
To begin with, Carbon Masters wanted to showcase the leadership position of Scotland with regards to renewable energy technologies. To viagra vs cialis achieve this, we took our guests to Whitelee Wind Farm near Glasgow, the largest onshore wind

This trip presented an opportunity for Adelca to learn about the construction process, costs, impact on communities and benefits of clean energy. There exists a real opportunity for Adelca to develop their own wind turbine to generate electricity, for use in their steel plant and to sell excess power back to the power grid.
On
day two, time was set aside to present Adelca with the results of their first ever carbon footprint assessment. Along with our Director Kevin Houston, I gave a detailed explanation of the greenhouse gas emissions viagra for sale generated by various areas/sources for the period 2009 to 2011. The Carbon Footprint data is the first indication of where Adelca should focus if it is to reduce emissions and cut energy costs.
Next stop was Dunfermline, Fife, to meet representatives of FMC Technologies (a leading provider of technology solutions for the oil and gas industry). FMC gave an excellent presentation and site tour showcasing their new sustainability measures including the cialis music implementation of a wind turbine and a detailed explanation of the Healthy and Safety measures at the plant. Since being installed in autumn 2011, the wind turbine has supplied 32% of
FMC’s electricity needs, cut carbon emissions by 26% and shaved £107,968 off their electricity bill. This success story has motivated Adelca to look for similar savings and become a leader in sustainability.
The final part of Adelca’s programme was to educate them on how to go about developing their own carbon reduction project. This was achieved by taking them to meet foods that work like viagra one of Carbon Masters’ partner firms. Grontmij, is a leading engineering consultancy that specialises in environmental and energy solutions including wind turbines, biogas plants, solar panels etc. The meeting gave Adelca an insight into Grontmij’s capabilities with input from three members of their team (an Environmental Engineer, a Civil Engineer and Mechanical Engineer).
Adelca expressed a lot of gratitude to Carbon Masters for organising and delivering a valuable programme of activities, which gave them a taste of Scottish culture as well as encouraging them on their own path towards carbon reduction. Their representatives were left inspired by Whitelee Wind Farm and motivated by companies like FMC Technologies who are already seeing the benefits of going on a low carbon journey. Finally, through meeting Grontmij, Adelca’s team were reassured that expert engineers are on hand to help deliver real carbon and cost reductions.
Carbon Masters is a carbon management consultancy which helps organisations in the public and private sector to measure, manage, reduce and report their carbon emissions.
