What are the criteria?

Organisations who apply to the Carbon Masters Standard must meet a range of qualitative and quantitative criteria in order to achieve certification.

All applicants go through a rigorous assessment process designed to test their performance in four main areas:

There are three tiers to the Carbon Masters Standard, with the third tier representing the highest level of achievement. An overview of the Carbon Masters Standard criteria for each tier is detailed below:

Strategy & Action Plans

Achieve a minimum score of 60% against a set of qualitative criteria.

Achieve a minimum score of 65% against a set of  qualitative criteria.

Achieve a minimum score of 70% against a set of  qualitative criteria.

 

All applicants begin with Tier 1 and must progress through to Tier 2 on recertification. To be awarded the Tier 3 applicants must have achieved certification at the Tier 2 Standard and provide evidence that they meet the specific requirements of Tier 3. However, moving to Tier 3 is voluntary with recertification at Tier 2 possible for applicants, providing they continue to meet the requirements of the Tier 2 Standard.

The Assessment process is managed by Carbon Masters and is subject to regular review by an Independent Advisory board.
