In recent days, Bengaluru’s Kannahalli Integrated Waste-to-Value Park has attracted national attention. What started as a foundation stone ceremony has quickly evolved into a benchmark project in circular economy, waste-to-gas innovation, and climate-aligned infrastructure.
Once complete it will process c900 tonnes of organic waste saving 300,000 tonnes in co2e emissions per annum, reducing the load on landfills and creating c 250 to 300 jobs.
At the core of this transformation is a strong public–private partnership between Carbon Masters, BBMP, and Saatarem Alternative Fuel & Energy Pvt. Ltd. (SAAFE). The project also benefits from world-class research at the Centre for Sustainable Technologies, IISc, and inclusive dry-waste systems led by Hasiru Dala Innovations.
Media coverage from The Times of India, Deccan Herald, The New Indian Express, and Hans India consistently positions Kannahalli as a flagship initiative in Karnataka’s evolving waste management approach:
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. D. K. Shivakumar has highlighted Kannahalli as a central element in Bengaluru’s renewed fight against landfill dependence and inefficiencies in garbage processing. His message is clear: clean cities, wealth from waste, and a firm commitment to sustainable infrastructure.
Across sectoral, CSR, infrastructure, and energy media, Carbon Masters is recognized as:
The Times of India has even mentioned Carbon Masters alongside GAIL India in discussions of large-scale investment, a significant credibility milestone for India’s waste-to-gas sector.
Specialized publications such as Energetica India, BioEnergy Times, The CSR Universe, and ConstructionWeek Online highlight Kannahalli as:
This consistent coverage reinforces the project’s strategic relevance beyond Bengaluru.
While the project’s public narrative is strong, several opportunities remain for deeper storytelling:
Highlighting these aspects can help Kannahalli evolve from a landmark project into a national reference for circular economy.
Kannahalli is more than just local infrastructure. It is becoming: A policy demonstration site A replicable model for Indian cities A climate-action showcase for investors and ESG-focused institutions Proof that waste can generate economic, environmental, and social value
As India accelerates toward its Net Zero goals, Swachh Bharat Mission targets, and Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, integrated waste-to-value ecosystems like Kannahalli are essential.
At Carbon Masters, the commitment is clear:
The story of Kannahalli is only the beginning of India’s journey toward sustainable urban transformation.
